1. Для начала, "Сан" - это явно христианская тема, причём не просто христианская, а узко-христианская, даже не все христианские конфессии имеют культ святых, не говоря уж о других религиях и атеистах. Разве не триггерно, скажем, для мусульманина или атеиста каждый день обьявлять Франциска из Асизи "святым"?
2. Сам Франциск, помимо того, что он мёртвый белый мужчина, чего уж само по себе должно быть достаточно, ещё и якшался с крестоносцами и пытался обратить мусульман (тут уже культурный империализм налицо!)
3. Опять же если посмотреть на имена городов в Долине, почти все Сан-мужики, одна Санта Клара в гордом одиночестве.

Налицо нужда переименовать Сан-Франциско во что-то более скрепное. Мишеле-Обамск, например.

Интересно, а кто-нибудь слева уже выдвинул тему, что бумажные книги экологичнее электронных? Смотрите: они связывают углерод (и уже давно известно, что лес, идущий на производство бумаги - возобновляемый ресурс, т.к. на вырубках просто сажают новые деревья - которые опять же связывают углерод). Для их потребления не нужна энергия (по крайней мере дополнительная - даже ночью дома всё равно у всех свет включается). Для их изготовления не нужны дорогие редкоземельные металлы, добыча которых наверняка неэкологична. Наконец, они вполне био-разлагаемы, если их приходится утилизировать. Чем не мечта настоящего эколога? Где кампания по бойкоту е-ридеров и запрету Киндла в Сан-Франциско?

Для начала, я не сторонник всяческих действий типа "давайте разрубим Гугль напополам для блага человечества". Это, впрочем, знает любой читатель моего журнала. Но тут интересен не вывод, интересна мотивация. Главным аргументом - не моим, не Воррен, а Главы Ответственных Инноваций (не знаю, что этот пост значит, но раз он есть, наверное для чего-то нужен?), самым важным, о чём она посчитала нужным упомянуть - да что там, единственно важным - является то, что Гугль может предотвратить next Trump situation, используя все те ресурсы мегакомпании, которые у него есть. Никакого обсуждения, никакого вопроса, является ли это предотвращение благим делом, этично ли использовать мегаресурсы гугля для этого - не то, чтобы на этот вопрос отвечают "да, конечно". Нет, этот вопрос даже не обсуждается, не поднимается, настолько это естественно и очевидно.

Ну и Веритас, как обычно, доставляет нам некие сочные подробности, из которых ясно, что это не пустые слова - алгоритмы Гугля рутинно подкручиваются и манипулируются, дабы их результаты были "справедливыми" - в том понятии справедливости, которое присуще SJW.

Очередные заявления о том, что видео "deceptively edited", конечно, воспоследуют. Хотя от кого они прячутся, не совсем понятно - свои давно уже считают, что они всё правильно делает, и никакие сентименты в деле preventing next Trump situation тут не нужны. А deplorables - ну, пусть клевещут.

Ещё один интересный момент - прогрессия происходящего. Т.е. сначала речь идёт о борьбе с расизмом и ненавистью. Кто ж против борьбы с ненавистью, а? Потом оказывается, что для борьбы с расизмом нужно специальным образом организовывать алгоритмы и т.п. Ну, ладно, чё, организуем. Потом оказывается, что бороться надо вообще с несправедливостью, например, с неправильными мыслями о том, что среди CEO больше мужчин. И ещё оказывается, что надо бороться за правильную информированность населения - чтобы они пользовались достойными доверия источниками. А то в недостойных ведь расизм и ненависть, а нам надо бороться, да? А чьим доверием? Да нашим же - у Гугля как раз есть все ресурсы, чтобы обьяснить всем, что такое справедливость, и он не побоится их использовать. Для защиты угнетённых конечно, на угнетателей нам насрать. И наконец:

Окончание (пока) истории с Оберлином и пекарней. После того, как присяжные вломили им 11 миллионов, администрация разразилась письмом, в котором утверждала, что присяжные игнорировали ясные свидетельства правоты Оберлина, которые всего лишь защищали свободу слова (после того, как присяжные уже признали, что это не так) и вообще пыталась выставить их тупицами, непонятно за что наехавшими на бедный колледж.

Это можно было бы счесть маханием кулаками после драки, если бы не один нюанс - драка-то ещё не закончилась! Остался ещё второй этап - punitive damages, т.е. наказание за плохое поведение (это отдельно от компенсации ущерба). На этом этапе особенно важно, осознал ли провинившийся свою вину - если осознал и раскаялся, пропишут меньше, если упорствует - пропишут больше, до двойной суммы ущерба, чтоб неповадно.

В этом случае злить присяжных, рассказывая им, что они нифига не понимают, особенно опасно. Но либералы Оберлина просто не могли удержаться от того, чтобы не поучать с умным видом смердов - они всю жизнь этим занимаются, что ж, из за какого-то десятка миллионов прекращать? Мало того, в качестве аргумента против назначения им punitive damages, они стали жаловаться на бедность - притом что у них endowment в миллиард и плата за обучение в 70К+ в год, а президент колледжа получает больше полумиллиона. Но они, дескать, не всех берут с такой платой, многих субсидируют и вообще у них бюджетные проблемы, т.к. они очень много тратят, пожалейте сиротинушку. Если нам придётся платить, это ударит по бедным студентам (заметим, по администраторам с шестизначными зарплатами это нихрена не ударит, никому из фигурантов дела ни копеечки не срежут, уверен, что бы ни случилось), пожалейте их!

Результат такого комбинированного двойного удара был предсказуем: присяжные впаяли им максимум возможного:

Jury awards Gibson’s Bakery $11 million against Oberlin College

Смысл дела в том, что в магазине-пекарне поймали трех воришек, которых впоследствии арестовали за воровство и избиение работника магазина. Воришки оказались чернокожими и студентами местного колледжа - того самого печально известного Оберлина. Студенты обвинили держателей магазина в расизме. Причём у самих воришек оказалось достаточно совести, чтобы признать, что расизм там был не при чём - они, очевидно, ещё недостаточно долго учились в колледже, чтобы выучить, что орать “расизм!” надо независимо от того, виноват или нет.

Администрация колледжа их полностью поддержала клеветников и деятельно помогала им, официально обьявила бизнес расистским, и более того - разорвала всякие связи с пекарней, пока те не откажутся от политики ловить воров и потребуют снять обвинения с пойманных воров и хулиганов (кстати, что это, если не obstruction of justice?). Вице-президент колледжа Мередит Раимондо сама лично раздавала листовки перед магазином и организовывала протесты. Протестующим также были бесплатно предоставлены помещения в колледже, им заказывали еду и т.п. - всё работниками колледжа.

За это они попали на 11 миллионов. Это отличная новость.

В заключении, цитатка из вице-президента колледжа о критиках:
“Fuck him,” Raimondo responded in a text message about Copeland. “I’d say unleash the students if I wasn’t convinced this needs to be put behind us.”

По-моему, фраза unleash the students однозначно показывает, что все заявления администрации о том, что это студенты сами, а они ни сном ни духом - откровенная ложь. Это, впрочем, было ясно и так - администрация колледжа и лично принимала участие в атаках, требовала от пекарни отозвать обвинения, и т.п. Это не самодеятельность, а действия официальных лиц организации.

А вот другой работник колледжа:

McDaniel said he started taking pictures with his cell phone, and a young man came up to him and started blocking his phone with flyers in his hand. McDaniel said he kept moving and the man moved with him, blocking his ability to take picture over and over. “I’m with the college,” the man answered when the former Oberlin College police chief asked him why he was blocking his ability to take pictures.

McDaniel testified he found out later the man hounding him over picture taking was Julio Reyes, associate director of the school’s multi-resource center. “He was attempting to intimidate me and I don’t intimidate easily,” McDaniel said.

“I told him ‘I’m going to just going to wait until your silly ass leaves and [I’ll] start taking pictures again without you trying to block me,.’ “McDaniel testified. “He answered that he was going to come back when I wasn’t looking and key my car.”

The College Board plans to assign an adversity score to every student who takes the SAT to try to capture their social and economic background.

Если вы думали, что только китайская компартия балуется рейтингованием человеков по социальному статусу, то это уже не так. Впрочем, и неудивительно - академия сейчас наиболее близкая и восприимчивая к тоталитаризму часть общества.

Зато теперь вместо сомнительного расизма аффирмативной акции можно использовать вполне научный расизм adversity score. Разумеется, это выгодно всем: администраторы академии теперь могут отбросить все те практики, за которые их уже начали тягать по судам, и использовать беспристрастные и, самое главное, не ими придуманные цифры. Которые, как все знают, не лгут, и теперь не надо гадать, кто будет победителем victimhood olympics - бедный гей-мусульманин или чернокожая трансгендерша-беженка? Это решит обьективная формула.

Это выгодно и самим провайдерам формулы - теперь администраторы без них будут как без рук. Если они будут по старинке чморить азиатов и евреев вручную, а соседи - по-научному, то сразу возникнут вопросы, может, дело таки в расизме? Почему это они отвергают последние достижения науки в пользу сомнительного расового шаманства? И придётся переключаться и платить за аутсорсинг аффирмативной акции. Чтобы выглядело прилично. А если к тому же речь идёт о нормальной семье, с двумя родителями - вообще капец.

Однако те, кто написал этот восхитительный труд, по-прежнему ответственны за Diversity & Inclusion в Амхерсте - да и в остальных местах такие же, вне всякого сомнения. И во многих местах условием работы в этом учреждении является подписание клятвы верности этому офису. Так что если этот толковый словарик SJW не удалось пока официально внедрить в Амхерсте - я уверен, что скорбный труд не пропадёт, и оно к нам не раз ещё вернётся.
