1. Вы как впервые в Америке. У меня как ребёнок в киндергартен при школе пошёл, нам тут же обьяснили НЙ закон: до 11 лет родителям нельзя оставлять его дома одного, без взрослых. Не то школа сообщит в social services, и будете обьясняться с судьёй.
Помню ещё, сыну классе в 3м провели урок - как стучать на родителей-абьюзеров (громкий голос в разговоре, например, явный абьюз, а также отказ покупать затребованное ребёнком, особенно в категорической форме).

Если вы укажете, о каких конкретно assets идёт речь и кто пишет, то можно будет понять, о чём идёт речь. В данном случае есть спорное дело, в котором участвует контракт от юрлица, более не существующего, и требования другого юрлица выплатить по этому контракту ему. Такие требования разбираются в суде, и до тех пор, пока они не разобраны, требования остаются требованиями.
Разумеется, можно обменять согласие с этими требованиями и выплату, полную или частичную, по ним, на освобождение заложников. Это и называется "выкуп заложников" - когда в обмен на то, чтобы заложников отпустили, другая сторона отдаёт какие-то материальные ценности и совершает другие действия, по требованию захватившей заложников стороны.
