Как я писал прежде, в Сиракузском Университете одна из профессорш выступила по поводу 9/11, назвав его "атакой на капиталистическую гетеропатриархию, которую защищают белые". Некоторым людям это показалось обидно, но Университет грудью стал на защиту свободы слова:
Some have asked the University to condemn the professor's comments and others have demanded the professor's dismissal. Neither of those actions will happen. As the home of the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, free speech for all people across the political spectrum, within the limits of the law and the University's anti-harassment policy, is one of our key values. Speech can be offensive, hurtful or provocative. Still, Syracuse University will stand by the principles of free speech and by our commitment to keeping our community safe in the face of threats and harassment.
Заметим, что они отказались не только от каких-либо административных последствий, но и от осуждения сказанного на словах и выражения какого-либо несогласия. Наверное, в Сиракузах страшно ценят свободу слова? Например:

Syracuse concluded the decade by rejecting a Young Americans for Freedom chapter over its conservative viewpoints, banning all fraternity social activity despite no evidence of misconduct by any of the students, and, most recently, placing a professor on leave for writing “Wuhan Flu or Chinese Communist Party Virus” on his course syllabus.
7. Syracuse University’s School of Education effectively expelled a graduate student from its teaching program after he complained on Facebook about a racially charged comment made in his presence by a community leader.

Как они это мотивируют? Ну например так:

Как же определяется, когда expressive rights священны и незыблемы, а когда rights of others to a safe and welcoming learning environment их покрывают, как бык овцу? Да очень просто. Если ты согласен с партией и политическими взглядами администрации, то твои права на свободу выражения священны, а если нет - то из рукава появляется козырный туз "safe and welcoming". Наоборот, разумеется, не работает - если белые студенты вдруг почувствуют неудобство от того, что профессор публично одобряет убийство людей ради борьбы с белой гетеропатриархией, то они могу засунуть своё мнение в себе в жопу, оно никого не волнует и их никто не будет welcome. However uncomfortable it may make anyone feel. они идут нахуй, рылом не вышли.
Элементарное надувательство.
Разумеется же, наивные придурки из Reason немедленно разразились аплодисментами в адрес Сиракуз, когда они "защитили свободу слова" для своих:
I'm a believer in positive reinforcement, and when university leaders do the right thing they should get credit for doing so. Kent Syverud, the president of Syracuse University and a former law professor, did the right thing. Other university presidents should take notes.
Эти кретины не понимают, что болтовня о "свободе слова" появляется на свет только тогда, когда речь идёт о критике леваков - и в этом случае даже выражение несогласия с ними является нападками на свободу слова. Когда же речь идёт о правых, или просто несогласных с линией партии, то на свет появляется "гласность это не вседозволенность!" - и следуют жёсткие административные меры. Придурки же продолжают не видеть этой систематической игры в наперстки и разражаться овациями каждый раз, когда леваки разрешают сами себе говорить утвержденные партией речи.
Впрочем, учитывая, что автор статьи - Professor of Politics at Princeton University, я подозреваю, что он-то как раз не дурак, а просто партийный функционер, дураки те, кто принимает подобные статьи за чистую монету, а подобное надувательство - за защиту свободы слова и "либертарианство".
