was an afro-american man who was a victim of police brutality by the Los Angeles Police Department.
On March 3, 1991, King was beaten by LAPD officers after a high-speed chase during his arrest for drunk driving ... the 1992 Los Angeles riots started, sparked by outrage among racial minorities over the trial's verdict. The rioting lasted six days and killed 63 people, with 2,383 more injured.
In a civil lawsuit in 1994, a jury found the city of Los Angeles liable and awarded King $3.8 million in damages.
In 2012, King was found dead in his swimming pool. The coroner found evidence of alcohol and other drugs (cocaine and PCP(Phencyclidine, drug used for its mind-altering effects)).
King died 28 years to the day after his father, Ronald King, was found dead in his bathtub in 1984.

Моя жена работала в таких проектах в Израиле. Там получалось, потому что, во-первых, инстанции, выделявшие деньги, стояли над школами, во-вторых, финансируемые и финансирующие мэрии регулярно пасли социальных работников в проблематичных семьях, и в третьих, для детей (в случае жены - старшеклассников) была приготовлена внешкольная деятельность под строгим контролем двух специалистов - профессионала по роду этой деятельности и профессионала в области подросткового воспитания. И дети могли прийти и выговориться о своих проблемах к любому из четырех взрослых, их курировавших, и приходили.
