But — but, there’s not a conclusion that, in fact, they cannot defeat the Taliban.

И ещё на одну мысль меня навели - что сейчас думают ребята из Южной Кореи и особенно Тайваня, учитывая, что США вроде как их гаранты безопасности? И учитывая, что в случае чего с другой стороны будет не толпа неграмотных ишаколюбов, а миллионная армия Кима или вся мощь Китая. Если они ещё не сделали серьёзных выводов после Гонконга, то теперь уж точно должны, если не идиоты. Дело даже не в том, что США ушли из Афганистана - об этом давно разговоры шли - а как именно ушли и какие качества - и сами по себе, и по отношению к союзникам и взятым на себя по их поводу обязательствам - показали.

Я так понимаю, что и японцы, и корейцы имеют все возможности, чтобы построить ядерное оружие, просто пока этого не делают. Но не исключено, что такие моменты потихоньку подталкивают их к тому, чтобы изменить своё мнение.
