I guess. For some people "nonpartisan" means "only Democrats are invited" and "norm" must mean "thinks Obama is The Messiah".

There are all kinds of people with all kinds of beliefs, but there is one special kind willing to call everybody who doesn't subscribe to their beliefs "extremists" or "racists".

I don't remember liberals ever calling anybody "communist" in the pejorative sense. I know some of them befriending communist terrorists, but they don't like to speak too much about it nowdays.
As for "not-a-patriot", I remember them calling General Petreus "General Betray Us", because his success was to their political disadvantage. And of course their own commander-in-chief candidate has trouble to figure out is it patriotic to be seen with even inch-sized American flag or not. Their second-in-command is more sure about what the patriotism is - he thinks "patriotism" means paying more taxes, so I guess there are a lot of "not-a-patriot"s around, by their definition.

As for Biden's words - patriot means taking responsibility for your country (among other things). I would think giving financial support for the wars your country leads (and soldiers that fight in these wars) is patriotic.

Somehow "taking responsibility" becomes to mean "paying somebody else's debts". Last time I checked the patriotic debt was how much, 700 billion? And I have yet to see somebody saying "sorry, we screwed up badly, please find somebody better to manage this stuff". Only thing I hear is "it is patriotic to give us more money".

Weren't it liberals that repeatedly attempted to block laws providing financial support for "wars your country leads (and soldiers that fight in these wars)"? Also, DoD is only 16% of the budget, 22% if you count all security-related stuff (social services are 60%) and I seriously doubt Biden intends to allocate any of the patriotic tax increases for DoD.

You know, you can't have it both ways. You either say that tactics of stopping the war through stopping its financing was legitimate and then in turn say that I'm refusing to pay for the government debts I don't like or you shame them and say where do I sign up to help my country financially.

Otherwise it is unpatriotic cherry picking.

As for the bail out of the financials, dare I remind you that it is put together by the Republican administration and it is meant to help banks to get out of trouble that Republicans helped them to get into through deregulating in the first place. I hope liberals will be spared from criticism in this case :)

Sorry, it's bull. I do not want to give the government permission to treat my money as theirs. It's my money, I earned it, it belongs to me, not to them. And when I hear that they want more of my money, because somehow it's "patriotic" - which means they already spent my money on all kinds of bullshit and want more - I call bullshit, because it has nothing to do with patriotism. It has to do with them wanting my money.
On the other hand, when I see a party that says it's "patriotic" to take from me the money to "pay for the war" but then the same people say they actually aren't going to pay for the war, they are opposed to the whole idea of paying for the war - then these people would be just liars, regardless of the fact if paying for the war is necessary or not. These are two different things.

The administration would have their place in hell for this. However, the mess was created long before that (read some here: http://arbat.livejournal.com/299880.html) and was actively promoted by many members of both Republican and Democrat parties, with only handful of Republicans trying to raise their voices against it.

This is bull, FNM/FMA was actively regulated and _encouraged_ to buy trash loans. The government openly supported increasing the amount of trash loans and banks trying to limit them by having more strict conditions on subprime borrowers were called "predatory lenders" and were punished by denying access to state-subsidized secondary market.
