The district attorney's office in San Mateo County, Calif., warns Transportation Security Administration workers at San Francisco International Airport that anyone who inappropriately touches a passenger during a security pat-down will be prosecuted, KGO-TV out of San Francisco reports.
Сами агенты, впрочем, тоже в большинстве своём не очень рады новым развлечениям на работе:
All 17 who responded are at airports where the new “enhanced” pat down is in place … and the responses were all the same, that front line TSOs do not like the new pat downs and that they do not want to perform them. I expected most to not like the pat downs … but what I didn’t expect was that all 17 mentioned their morale being broken down.
Эта проблема, конечно, решается довольно просто - надо нанимать таких мужчин/женщин, которым нравится щупать лица того же пола. Do ask, do tell, так сказать. Особенно учитывая, что:
TSA doesn’t require much at all, it turns out. This government agency-gone-wild performs a background check to weed out applicants who are convicted felons, but TSA does not test at all for applicants’ psychological soundness.
И вот, например:
Last week, one of my flying partners (Captain with Skywest) was going through security at DEN with his 18 year daughter. As his daughter approached the detector, the TSO working the NoS said on his headset, "heads up, got a cutie for you." He then confronted the TSA clerk with what he said and that neither of us are going through the NoS. The TSA clerk said you must have misunderstood me.
Это, заметим, опять же, пилот - т.е. человек, который имеет допуск к вождению самолётов. Что, собственно, они у него и его дочери ищут?
А вот чего они добились:
in the past year the controversial measures have detected more than 130 prohibited, illegal or dangerous items that otherwise would have made it onto airplanes
Т.е. надо понимать, что из пассажиропотока примерно в 750 миллионов в год они умудрились найти 130 запрещённых предметов - притом, что в таковые входят щипчики для ногтей, бутылки с водой, свечки, шампунь и крем для бритья? И они такими успехами гордятся? Или это 130 каких-то особо опасных предметов - но тогда каких именно?
P.S. Солдаты возвращаются из Афганистана. С оружием. TSA отбирает у них щипчики для ногтей.
