With just three weeks left to enroll on the new insurance exchanges, the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, finds that 15.9 percent of U.S. adults are uninsured thus far in 2014, down from 17.1 percent for the last three months — or calendar quarter— of 2013.
Released Monday, the survey based on more than 28,000 interviews is a major independent effort to track the health care rollout. The drop of 1.2 percentage points in the uninsured rate translates to about 3 million people gaining coverage.
Тут есть небольшая проблема - 1.2 процента от взрослых это не три миллиона, а чуть более двух, в США всего 194 миллиона взрослых. Но это ещё не всё. В конце статьи:
For results based on the total national sample, the margin of error is plus or minus 1 percentage point, larger for subgroups.
Иными словами, разница не между 15.9 и 17.1, а между 14.9-16.9 и 16.1-18.1. Т.е. реальная разница может быть 3.2, а может быть и -0.8.
Прогрессивные журналисты нам обещали, что теперь будут не только докладывать новости, но и подробно обьяснять. Вот и обьяснили бы.
