The Tribune said he took leave of absence in 1998 from a job with the city's water management department, which paid $44,000 a year, to work full time for the local."
Интересно, ребята из OWS будут протестовать против этого? С таким доходом он вполне квалифицируется как top 1%, и, насколько я понимаю, все эти пенсии имеют своим источником деньги налогоплательщиков, пропущенные через профсоюзные кассы.

Лет 5 назад в НЙ была Большая Стачка транспортного профсоюза, как раз перед Рождеством: за увеличение зарплат в новом контракте боролись, шантажировали мэра недополучением денежек в казну во время туристского сезона. Перегнули палку - их поволокли в суд, главного затолкали в тюрягу (хотя и ненадолго), и сабвей заставили водить. Но я к тому, что именно тогда NY Post огорошила граждан цифрами (кот. они долго и тщательно добывали - их держали за заборами), сколько получает водитель поезда в метро или автобуса. На старте оказалось - $63 тыщи. Это в то время было как зарплата архитектора с 5-7летним стажем (сужу по своей отрасли, конечно). Т.е. в стране где большинство умеет водить и где вождение автобуса требует ну чуть больше умений чем есть у типичного 17-летки. И это не говоря о всяких других бенефитах и цацках, что они получают.
