There’s a silver lining for would-be home buyers who missed the April 30 deadline for the $8,000 federal tax credit: Sellers are dropping prices.

The average price reduction for a single-family home or condominium in the Bay State last month was 8 percent, or $38,883 off the original asking price, according to real estate search engine Trulia.com.

In Suffolk County, which includes the cities of Boston, Chelsea, Revere and Winthrop, the price reduction was $43,288, or 7 percent off the listing price.

Amidst a bankruptcy and a fast-dwindling population and tax base, the city has prioritized the task of ensuring that all businesses are in compliance with its codes and permitting. To accomplish this, Mayor David Bing announced in January that he'd assembled a task force to execute Operation Compliance.

Operation Compliance began with the stated goal of shutting down 20 businesses a week. Since its inception, Operation Compliance has resulted in the closure of 383 small businesses, with another 536 in the "process of compliance," according to figures provided to Reason TV by city officials.

Starting two weeks ago, requests faxed to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) started coming back as undeliverable. After several subsequent attempts and troubleshooting on our end, MuckRock reached out to the OSD. Sure enough, their fax machine is down... possibly until November.

Т.е. зацените - для обслуживания запросов по FOIA у Министерства Обороны США есть 1 (один) факс, и если он ломается, то заменить его занимает 2 (два) месяца. Вот не хватает в полу-триллионном бюджете Министерства Обороны денег на ещё один факс.
