Что, однако, не помешало ему постоянно упоминать, что он служил в Operation Enduring Freedom за границей (что технически верно, только все думают, что он воевал в Афганистане, а он был в Италии на подхвате), а если сильно раздухарится - то и службу в Ираке помянуть можно. И, разумеется, выступая за запрет оружия, он никогда не забывает упомянуть, что он-то знает, каково это - бывать в бою, и именно поэтому может говорить на эту тему с авторитетом! Разумеется, ни в каком бою он ни секунды не был. Само по себе это не недостаток - многие не были, и слава Всевышнему, что не были - он он-то врёт, что был!

Политикой он начал заниматься в кампейне Джона Керри, что и заметно.

После того, как я критиковал SCOTUS за позорное решение по делу о цензуре, надо поговорить и о хороших новостях. А они есть.

Первая отличная новость - доктрина Chevron, которая подразумевала, что любое решение административного регулятора, не запрещённое прямо законом и не противоречащее букве закона, автоматически считается судом правильным, если только не будет доказано обратное - отменена. Теперь неизбранным чиновникам не будет более позволено писать собственные законы, и у граждан будет способность оспаривать подобные решения в суде.

Вторая - SEC и прочим регуляторам более не будет позволено оперировать, как одновременно законодатель, суд и исполнитель приговора, и у людей, к которым SEC и другие регуляторы имеют претензии, снова будет право оспаривать эти претензии в нормальном суде с состязательным процессом, вместо "административного суда", работающего как часть регулятора и практически всегда выносящего решения в пользу своего владельца. 

Третье - суд решил, что расширительное толкование обвинений в "обструкции", использованное против большинства демонстрантов 6 января, незаконно, и для выдвижения обвинения в "обструкции" необходимо доказательство конкретных действий по сокрытию документов, уничтожению улик, и т.п. действия, относящиеся к материальным уликам - и действия большинства демонстрантов в эти рамки никак не попадают. Всего 4 года заняло, ага. На судьбу большинства обвиняемых это, впрочем, не сильно повлияет, т.к. другие обвинения - вроде trespassing и т.п. - остаются на месте. 

 Четвертое - решение, что bump stocks являются "автоматическим оружием", отменено. Лично я подобными технологиями не пользовался и, скорее всего, впредь не буду, но сам факт, что хоплофобы получили щелчок по носу, приятен. 

Пятое - суд поддержал возможность для муниципалитетов ограничивать поселение бомжей на улицах, и постановил, что запрет бомжам устраивать палаточный лагерь где угодно не является "жестоким и необычным наказанием".
